Consider letting him chose what programs are on the TV at first he will naturally pick his favourite programs, but over time he will take you into consideration because by letting him chose you have removed the conflict out of watching TV. The chances are that most of the time you will be browsing your phone or tablet while you watch TV and it does not matter what is on.
